The leader, of the Ku Klux Klan,
Officially . rechartered in Arkan
sas, today announced plans for an
active revival of the secret group
and .said., he is seeking support
from- GoV.lJOrval E. Faubus.
A. C. Hightower, a Little Rock
barber 'Who identified himself as
the - grand dragon of Arkansas,
told -United Press international
the Klan "has done its job in the
past and will do it again in the
future."i"
He said ' members "will prac
tice cross burning," but denied
the Klan planned any type of vio
lence "such as kidnapings and
whippings."
r. "Alter all, how could a Chris
tian organization preach vio
lence?" he asked. "That Is all we

tian and a fraternal organ
isation." Hightower declined to say what
type of support he is seeking from
Faubus, He said his talks with
Faubus would be secret.
The governor has made no com

The Kluh's charter in Arkansas
expired 14 years ago. But High
tower laid . down a $12.50 fee
Thursday and filed articles of in
corporation with Secretary of
State C. .G. Hall to put it back
en the books.
Hall said there Is no law
against the Klan officially return
ing to life in Arkansas. , There is
apparently nothing state officials
can do. to prevent the Klan from
organizing and holding meetings.
Arkansas does, however, have
.Statutes prohibiting night riding
and barring Klnnsmcn from wear
ing hoods. Hightower said mem
bers would wear robes and hoods,
but .will not be masked.

-heart specialist who came to town
to deliver a lecture may have
saved a woman's life witji an op
eration in which a guitar string
played an Important part. 1
. Mrs. Harriet Games was report
ed in fairly good condition in St.
Joseph's hospital today following
surgery. The 44-year-old woman
was admitted to the hospital
Thursday suffering from internal
bleeding. But the source of the
bleeding could not be pinpointed.
Also at the hospital was Dr.
Charles T. Dottcr of Portland.

annual meeting of St. Joseph's
Hospital National Advisory Coun

source of the bleeding.

to the suspected area. A dye was
then sent through the tube and,
yith the help of a new x-ray de
vice, the source of the bleeding
was placed in the right kidney.
. The rapid diagnosis permitted

The real name of tonight's new
comer is Richard Iketu (pro-1
nounccd something 'like "I hate
you.") But his admirers in Niger
ia Equatorial West Africa
changed the name to Dick Tiger
because of his crouching and
springing style in the ring.
Tiger, 29, is five years older
than bull-shouldered Calhoun. But
the British champ is slightly less
experienced than Rory and much
less ring-worn. During Rory's 47
professional bouts, he met the
toughest men in the 160-pound di
vision. Calhoun had 37 victories, seven
defeats and one draw. He scored
20 knockouts and was stopped
once, by Spider Webb.
Tiger's 32-8-1 record includes 17
knyoos. He never was stopped.
Convicts Escape
Utah State Jail
POINT OF THE MOUNTAIN,
Utah (UPD Two convicts, who
have boasted they would not be
taken alife, escaped early today
from Utah State Prison by leav
ing dummies in their beds then
cutting through one fence and
digging under another.
The convicts were Robert J.
Richards, 26, alias Jimmy Clark,
who was serving a term of five
years to life for armed robbery,
and Dennis Mattlnson, 21, serving
a 1 to 20-year term for second
degree burglary.
Warden John Turner said the
convicts left dummies made of
blankets and tin cans in their
beds to fool guards during cell
checks. - '

dug under the outside fence.
The dummy In Richards' bed
was found at 2 a.m. p.d.t. but it
was not determined that Mattln
son was missing until 90 minutes

Looks For Money
LOS ANGELES (UPI)-The
Bank of America and the FBI
are looking for sil3,200 in cash.
The money has apparently dis
appeared between the bank's
closely gunnled reserve vault and
one of Its 17 branches.
"There Is definitely a shortage
but not on our books," a spokes
man said Thursday night when
the disappearance was discovered
"It aDDcars to be a case of mis
placed funds."
Officials said hopefully
that the money probably was de
livered to the wrong branch bonk.
