It was a family affair with the
bride s mother, Elvina Adell He
witt, the groom's daughter, Arlene
R. Simonis, attending the couple.
Miss Simonis was home on vaca
tion from Brigliam Young Uni
versity where she is attending her
Senior year.
The newlyweds will be at home
at 15114 Adams Avenue, follow
ing a short honeymoon.

A series of six recitals and
parlies have been held in the
home of Mrs. Nephi Combs, in the

Soroptimists Hold
Holiday Meeting
The So- optimist Club met in the
Sacajawea dining room for a noon
'uncheon, Thursday, Dec. 18, with
24 members and .five guests pres
ent.
Belly Spjvey was in charge of
the decorations. Tables were cen
tered with candles and holly.
The meeting was opened with
the flag salule, following, Bertha
Hrown gave the invocation. Grace
Chambers, president, announced
that Christmas gifts had been sent
to the State Hospital at Pendleton.
Program chairman, Dr. Mar
garet Morrisintroduced Dr. Frank
Bennett, who told the story of
"The Other Wise Men." The meet
ing was adjourned by the repeat
ing of the Soroptimist Pledge.
The next meeting wiH be a
regular luncheon held Jan. 2, in
.ho Sacajawea. -

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Hickman,
1200 Tenth Street, have a daughter
born Dee. 27. Thev have named
her Kelly Lynn and she weighs
five pounds and 12 ounces.

First on the program was Mrs.
Dorothy Brown who played sev

Hawk sang "Star of the East"
and "0 Holy Night" accompani

Combs. Tumbling duo of Sylvia
Singleton and Sue Bradley, per
formed to the song "Stormy
Weal her'" and father and son
combination of Hank and El Roy
Williams presented several gui
tar numbers. Miss Patty Parker
then presented two accordion se
lections "Winter Wonderland and
Jingle Bells." She also played
Christmas carols and the group
sang.
Two youngsters, Kenney Mur
phv and Debbie Boothman then
each gave a short recitation.
The concluding number on the
program was ihe reading of
"Twas the Night Before Christ
mas" by Elaine Hanson.
Then to (he jingle of bells and
peal of hearty laughter Santa
Clans made his entrance. He
made a lour of the room speak
ing to the children and then he
and his helpers prcsenld each
one present with a treat of candy,

After Santa departed the gifts

and the rest of the evening was
spent visiting

Cove Girl Named'
To Honor Roll b
Sheila Haggerty, a freshman
student at Oregon State College!
has been named to the school's
scholastic honor roll. i
Miss Haggerty, majoring in plry;
sics at the college, earned a grade
average of 3.09 out of a possible
4.0 this past semester. She is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Haggerty of Cove. He is the stij

Well Attended
There wero about 75 persons
attending the Christmas dinner
and party of the Blue Mountain
Grange, Saturday evening m we
hall. The evening began at 7 P.m.
willi a potluck dinner held in the
dining room. Tables were decor
ated with fir boughs and color
ful wrapped packages. Mrs. Lor-
nine Bates was in charge of the
decorations.
Following the meal the pro

came hurrying in, to the delight
of the young. He presented the
children with presents and wish
ed all a "Merry Christmas.' Treats
were given to all who wero at
tending al the close of the eve
ning. Gifts for the men ami wo
men were also exchanged at that
lime. '. " . .
The next regular Grunge meet
ing will be held Jan. 3 in me
Grange hall.

theme of the Senior Ball, which
was he'd Saturday, Dec. 20, in the
gym. ' '
Frosty was over six feet tall
and stood in the middle of the
dancing area.. Christmas trees
decorated with imitation snow
edged the dance floor.
The Keith Simonis Band of
North Powder played at the dance.
