turned from overseas, at a double
ring ceremony read at 4:30 p.m.
Sept.' 27, bv the Rev. Paul Kunz
man, at hihome in Vancouver,
Wash.
The bride's wedding ensemble
was a suit of pale blue with navy
blue accessories, with a corsage
of pink bouvardia, white roses
and white chrysanthemums.
Mr. and Mrs. Antone Larsen of
Portland, were attendants'for the
bride and groom. A dinner was
held for the wedding party fol
lowing the ceremony.
The young couple, after a
honeymoorr at Long Beach and
other places of interest in Wash
ington, wilf come to La Grande
for a visit? before going to Port
land to make their home
Mrs. Mackin has been em
ployed as a nurse at St. Joseph's
hospital for fou!' and one-half
years, and before entering the
army several years ago, Mr.
Mackin was in business in La
Grande.

Neighborhood Club Has 37 New
Members at First Fall Meeting
Thirty-seven new members
were taken into the Neighbor
hood club at the first meeting of
the fall season held yesterday af
ternoon in the club house. A large
crowd was present, and Mrs. John

Miss Jean Williams, former over
seas Red Cross worker, related
experiences in hospitals in Eng
land and France, saying Red
Cross girls gave the boys a lift
and acted as morale builders.
Barbara Detrick, accompanied
by Mrs. Waldo Gerards, sang twe
numbers, "To The Sun" and
"Nocturne." O. P. Weigcl, accom
panied by Miss Willamine Ber
key at the piano, presented two
violin solos, "Gypsy Love Song"
and Brahms Hungarian dance No.

The social hour was under the
chairmanship of Mis. Smith and
Mrs. Charlton, co-chairman, as
sisted by officers and board
members. Mrs. Stella Ingle and
Mrs. Ed Kiddle presided at a tea
table attractive with fall flowers
and ivory tapers. Bouquets ol
fall flowers were arranged about
the room.
The next meeting of the club
will be Oct. 16, when George
Nightingale, instructor of art at
Eastern Oregon collet,.-, will
speak.

social meeting. Mrs. Herbert
Johnascn is to be chairman, and
will be assisted by Mrs. F. F.

Mrs. O. C. Cade, Mrs. John Ward

meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m.

poration. She has entered the
Eastern Oregon college of edu
cation. Riveria Parent-Teacher associa
tion study group will hold its first
class in the school lunchroom at
2:30 p. m. Friday. Topic for the
discussion is "Parents and teach
ers as partners." Anyone in the
Riveria community interested in
this subject is invited. The exec
utive committee will meet at 1 :30
p. m. Friday, immediately before
the study group.Friday has also
been announced as t h e closing
day for the PTA membership
contest.
Ladies Society to the Brother
hood of Locomotive Firemen and
Enginemcn will hold its regular
business meeting and initiation

Mr. and Mrs. D. H. McNamara
of Portland, formerly of Nebras
ka, and their two daughters, have
moved to La Grande. He will
open a hardware store in this
city soon, and are residing at 1706
Fourth street.

Grande resident arrived here
yesterday from Los Angeles
where he had visited his sister,
Patricia Leonard, and is visiting
in La Grande a few days before
going on to Grand View, Wash.,
to see his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Leonard. From there he
will go to Seattle where he is en
rolled at the University of Wash
ington for the fall term.
