two daughters are vacationing at
Lapover up the south fork of thy
Lostine. Her was in town brief
ly yesterday' and said Gov. Earl
Snell will be there for the week

Sue Carter of Pendleton is a
house guest here of Mr. and Mrs.
Victor Seely. She has been here
since Friday.
C. F. Morehead and family left
yesterday for a week's visit at
Pendleton and vicinity.
Irma Juve, Marie Ledbetter,
Helen Manning, and Doris Mc
Whorter visited Sunday with
Miss Ledbetter's sister at Haines,
and then had a picnic up Rock
Creek cany.n.
Visitors at the Wilhid Teel
home include Wyman Wilkerson,
their grandson, Mrs. Inis Teel,
their daughter, and their son,
Claude, and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Winn and
son, Orion, of Adrian left for
their home last night after being
called here by the death of Mrs.
Winn's brother-in-law, Harry Mc
Clay for whom funeral serv
ices were held yesterday. While
here they had been house guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Haines. Mis.
McClay and Mi's. Winn are sis

Eagles auxiliary sewing club,
which was to have met at River
side park Wednesday afternoon,
will meet instead at the Eagles
hall, it was announced today.
Beehive Girls and Boy Scouts
of the Latter Day Saints church
will have a dancing party at 3
p. m. Friday at Riverside park,
under direction of the MIA.
GETS THIRD DIVORCE
HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 21 (UP)
Actress Estelle Taylor, former
wife of Boxer Jack Dempsey, to
day held n divorce from the the
atrical producer Paul Small, her
third husband, with whom she
said she "quarreled from morn
ing 'till night."

The Wagners are here from San
Francisco visiting with relatives.

at the Neighborhood club to
make plans for the picnic which
will be held at Riverside park at
2 p. m. Thursday. Eleven mem
bers of the lodge were present
and Mrs. C. C. Lillie presided.

Thomas Towle was hostess at a
dinner Friduy evening, compli
menting her sister-in-law, Mrs.
Clara Lund, who is visiting here
from Phoenix, Ariz. The house
was decorated with gladioli and
other fall flowers. The dinner
was served cafeteria style on ta
bles dotting the parlors and lawn.

daughter Phyllis, Mrs. Anna
Lund, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Hefty,
Donald Hefty, Jimmy Chaffee of
Compton, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. T.

Willard Eames of Compton, Calif.,
are there. The Heftys plan to be
gone ten days. They drove
through.
Mrs. Al Davis and her daugh
ter, Mary Anne, who have spent
the summer hert in their cabin
are returning to their home in
Portland Monday. Mr. Davis is

Week Showed Loss

totaled 208,000,000 pounds last
week, an 18 percent decrease
from the preceding week's 255,
000,000 pound output, the war
meat board said today.
The board attributed the de
crease to the two day victory
holiday. Last week's production
was compared with 301,000,000
pounds slaughtered in the corres
ponding week last year.
