MILDRED' (embarrassed) R?al-
ly, Raymond, I
Raymond now turns hi9 .child
like gze upon Lenny who is flip
ping a coin in an embarrassed
fashion.
RAYMOND: (disingenuously) '
Would you like me to leave?
LENNY: (continuing to. flip
coin) That's not a bad Idea.
Raymond strolls toward the kltch--en,
still watching his sister and
Lenny out of the corner of his
eye. As he pauses, a nanu on ine
doorknob, they move involuntarily
towards each other. Raymond
pretends to go in, and the door
is almost closed behind him, Len
ny and Mildred are practically in
each other's arms. At this mo
ment Raymond innocently appears
to have changed his mind and
stands In the doorway watching
them, Lenny starts flipping the
coin again, while Mildred scowls
at her little brother. ,
RAYMOND: Are you flipping
that because you're nervous or
do you want to give it to me?
With a grin Lenny tosses him the
coin. Raymond catches it and
pockets it in one deft movement.
RAYMOND: I was going any
way, but thanks all the same.
Again he barges into the kitchen
and starts to close the door behind
him. Again Lenny and Mildred
rush towards, each other: This
time the kitchen door closes lor a
split second and then opens again
and Raymond, poker faced, stands
in the doorway, enjoying the em
barrassment of Mildred and
Lenny.
RAYMOND: (blandly) You
really didn't have to give me
the four-bits. I'm not the type
who
LENNY: (through gritted teeth)
You're welcome, Raymond!
RAYMOND: (affably) Thanks a
lot.
He goes Into the kitchen and starts
to close the door.
MILDRED: (omlnuosly) Ray
mond, if you pop in a gain, I.
RAYMOND: (soothingly) Okay,
okay relax.
He goes Into the kitchen, and
Anally the door is permanently
shut.
