SAN FRANCISCO, July 19
(UP) Henry Kaiser, west coast
industrialist, has obtained sena
torial support for a bill providing
for establishment of voluntary
systems of prepaid medical caro
throughout the country, the San
Francisco Chronicle said today.
An amendment to the national
housing act whereby the federal
housing agency would administer
financing of individual projects
will be introduced by Sen.
Claude Pepper, D Fla., the pa
per said.
Kaiser said he had conferred
with Senators Pepper, Lister
Hill., D., Ala., James Murray, D.,
Mont., and Robert Taft, R., Ohio.
He said "their questions indicated
tney had no serious objections to
the plan."
The measure provides FHA
guaranteed bank loans to groups,
such as physicians, labor, man
agement, labor-management and
states, who wish to set up facili
ties for prepaid medical care;
technical assistance by the U. S.
public health service in determ
inin'tho Yieed and likelffl'dbd'o'f"
success for the individual pro
ject; limitations barring the FHA
administration from exercising
supervision or control over the
project; preference from using
existing public or private facili
ties.
Kaiser said the' prepaid medi
cal plans will operuto as business
enterprises, motivated by the

in the sense of a social experi
ment," he added. '

Swimming Classes
Set Aug. 6 to 18
Swimming - classes, sponsored
by the local Red Cross chapter,
will be offered from Aug. 6-18,
at Pine Cone swimming pool.
An Instructor will be sent by
the national Red Cross and will
be assisted by Harvey Carter,
principal of Central school and
well-known swimming instructor
and life-guard. Classes will be
arranged for beginners and ad
vanced swimmers. To date, no
public transportation facilities
are available.
