Delighted with the sale she has
made, C liss grubs five guest
towels from her display counter
and readies for a container In
which to place them.
DEXTER: (grandly) Skip it.
Sell 'em over. I wouldn't know
what to do with 'em.
He shoves the five-dollar blU
across the counter to her.
CORLISS: (gratefully) Thanks
a million, Dexterl You're really
very sweet.
Impulsively, she gives him a
hearty kiss and gleefully rings up
the sale on the cush register. Dex
ter is quite overcome with hap
piness.. :
CLOSE SHOT THE TWO SOL
DIERS IN THE BACKGROUND
They hae watched the transac
tion with evident approval. The
prospect of purchasing kisses from
these attractive girls obviously
uppeals to them. Dexter walks
through the Shot with a glance
back ut Corliss.
DEXTER: (deeply moved) Holy
cowl
As Dexter disappears, the two
dtldleru step up to the counter.
MILDRED: (helpfully) Cun I
do anything for you boys?
The soldiers exchange eloquent
looks.
FIRST SOLDIER: You sure
can, slsterl How much?
'Assuming that the boy is refer
ring to her guest towels, Mildred
leans forward to display her mor
chandlse.
MILDRED: Only a dollar.
FIRST SOLDIER: (cheerfully
slnpping down a dollar bill)
Soldi
Without furthor ado, ho kisses
Mildred enthusiastically. Mean-
While, the second soldier, fum
bling In his wallet, produces c
fistful of crumpled dollar bills,
Mildred indignantly shoves the
boy away, and Corliss watches
with wide-eyed fascination.
MILDRED: Why, you fresh
thing! How dare you?
SECOND SOLDIER: (puzzled)
He puld for it, didn't he?
FIRST SOLDIER: (grinning)
And very nlco, tool I think I'll
hove another.
Mildred backs away alarmed. The
second soldier Is grinning at Cor
liss. SECOND SOLDIER: Okay,
cutle pie you serve me.
MILDRED: (Indignantly) Go
away, both of youl You ought
to bo ashamed of yourselvesl
I FIRST SOLDIER: (puzzled)
Scene from "Klet and Tell," a Colombia Bicrufe. 't
CORLISS: (virtuously) Personally, I'm perfectly willing,
to sacrifice myself for a good cause and sell kisses.
and sell kisses.
The idea is evidently appealing to
Mildred, too, but she still has a
few scruples,
MILDRED: I know. But I don't
think my mother
CORLISS: (instantly) Your
mother's out shopping with ray
mother, and they won't be herf
for hours. By that time we can
raise gobs of money and they
won't have to know, will they?
MILDRED: (weakening) Well,
CORLISS: (wrinkling her nose)
Oh, come on, let's! I think sol
diers enjoy kisses more than
guest towels anyway.
WIDER ANGLE
During the girls' discussion in the
rear of the booth, the two young
soldiers have been Joined by three
or four of their buddies, and all
of them ore now ranged along
the counter, hopefully waiting. As
the huddle breaks up and Corliss
and Mildred come back to the
counter obviously ready to sacri
fice themselves for the Red Cross,
they are greeted by enthusiastic
whistles.
RAYMOND'S BOOTII
MEDIUM SHOT
Dexter is just returning to the
booth, still glowing with the mem
ory of Corliss' furtive kiss.
RAYMOND: (cynically) Well,
what did Corliss want?
DEXTER: I got hooked for five
towels!
RAYMOND: (pityingly) There's
one born every minute.

What's the matter? You're sell
ing kisses, aren't you?
MILDRED: What! You must be
crazy!
FIRST SOLDIER: Wo saw her
sell 'em to thut boy just now.
MILDRED: Oh, don't be silly!
Thut wus her boyfriend, Dexter
ho lives next door.
The soldiers reulize that there has
been some mistake.
FIRST SOLDIER: (scooping up
his dollar with o disarming
grin) Well, I'm sorry, Miss. We
thought
Corliss is motioning Mildred to
come Into a huddle in the rear of
the booth.
CORLISS: (urgently) Mildred,
c'mero a sec. (to the soldiers)
Don't go away, boys.
REAR OF BOOTH
CLOSE SHOT CORLISS AND
MILDRED
Mildred still has a wary eye on
the young soldiers at the counter.
MILDRED: (nervous whisper)
Do you suppose we ought to
send for a cop or on M. P., or
something?
Corliss is chewing thoughtfully on
bobble pin, on idea evidently
forming In her mind.
CORLISS: (glibly) Golly after
all, why not? I mean, why
don't we?
MILDRED: (shocked) You're
crazy!
CORLISS: But movie stars do
it all the time when they sell
bonds.
MILDRED: (still dubious) I
know, but
CORLISS: (virtuously) Per
sonally, I'm perfectly willing to
sacrifice myself for a good cause
