Of American Legion Auxiliary
' Mrs. George Tiss was elected
president of the American Legion
auxiliary to serve during the
ensuing lodge year, last night at
a meeting, the lust until the fall
session, in the Sacajawea hotel.
Other officers elected are: Mrs.
E. G. Moore, first vice president;
Mfs. Carl Ebert, second vice
president; Mrs. Beatrice Young,
secretary; and Mrs. Bill Rivers,
treasurer. '
Mrs. William Wilkins, district
president, was the instulling of
ficer. Plans were discussed for the
convention; and If one is held
delegates will be Mrs. Tiss, Mrs.
Young, Mrs. Lee Thomas and
Mrs. Rivers. Alternates will be
Mrs. Ebert, Mrs. O. B. Maxam,
Mrs. Moore, and Mrs. John Gar-liy.
. Three afghans were presented
women with whom she sews, and
these afghans are to be sent- to
the Roseburg hospital. Mrs. John
Camp reported on the history,
anouncing that it is ready to be'
sent to headquarters.
Mrs. Tiss anounced committee
chairmen for the coming year.
They are: Mrs. Charles Shew
maker, Americanism; Mrs. Frank
Dunn and Mrs. Frank Flanery,
child welfare; Mrs. Henry Hess,
constitution and by-laws; Mrs.
Lee Thomas, radio; Mrs. Kenneth

Rosenbaum, war activities; Mrs.
John Lane and Mrs. Leo Hansen,

24 Merit Badges
To Nine Boy Scouts
Twenty-four merit badges have
been awarded to nine Union
county Boy Scouts at' meetings
of the- Boy Scout- board of re
view June 5 and July 3, it was
announced today.
Troop 84 received three badges
all going to one boy, Norvin
Coles. Young Coles was award,
ed badges for cooking, safety and
public health.
The other 21 badges were
awarded to boys from troop 128.

en's society donated dishes for
the Methodist cabin at the lake.
Reports were given of 49 sick
calls during the past month: Mrs.
G. H.- McGee and Mrs. White
agreed to take care of the prep
arations for communion during
the next month. The women's
society donated $2,50 cash to the
Do-Nut' hut.

remaining toast and cut in halves lengthwise. "

Make white sauce: Melt shortening, blend in
flour. Add milk gradually, stirring constantly.
Cook until thickened, about 6 minutes. Add salt
and chili sauce. Pour over cheese aandwlche.
