SAN FRANCISCO, June 21
(UP) There will be no invasion
of lh-a Pacific coast league terri
tory by the American or National
leagues now or ever.
That's the statement of Presi
dent Clarence (Pants) Rowland,
be major league baseball on the

one city or two to the major
leagues.
"Rather, when major league
baseball conies to the west, it will
be when the Pacific coast league
is given major league status."
Rowland asserted there is no
chance for such a move now or
even in the immediate future
but that in the years ahead when
the west coast becomes as popu
lous as the east, there will be ma
jor league baseball in all eight
cities in the loop.
Recently various easterners
have pointed out that with air
travel, the east coast teams could
be moved to Los Angeles or San
Francisco with no more elapsed
time than the current train ride
between eastern major league i
entries. - ' )
Rowland, here on an inspection
swing around the league, said
coast loop attendance is up ap
proximately 175,000 compared
with the record-breaking 1(144
season. San r rancisco and Sail
Diego are the two leading attencl-
uice gainers.
