tiller demand for cash rye
prompted heavy covering in the
futures pit lifting all rye deliv
eries to new season highs on the
board of trade today July rye
at one point climbed almost 4V4
cents a bushel to a new 20-year
peak. December and May corn
also established seasonal records.
Other grains held steady to firm.
Rye finished the day up 2
to 4 'A cents a bushel; wheat was
up 1 to 1; corn unchanged to
up V4; oats up to 1, and bar
ley up 1 V4 to 5 cents.
Trading held to comparatively
light volumo with the undertone
nervous in rye. In addition to
the distillor outlet for cash rye,
new sales of the spot article to
Belgium wore reported but un
confirmed. Conflicting factors affected
wheat and hedge-selling and mill
