Angels Are Picked

BY HAL WOOD

SA.N FRANCISCO, March 2:s (UP) Tnoy ciid it before and the
chances appear that they can do it again.
So the Los Angeles Aiik'-Ik, winner:- .if I ho l!M4 and l!)4.'l Pacific
Coast league pennant races, will take the field Saturday against the
San Francisco Seals favored to win their third consecutive flag in
the Ilia-game race.
Loatled wilh such stars as Lou

material from the Chicago Cuhs
if they need it. the Angels .should
be the class of the field.
However, there appears In lw:
the making of a ding-dong hattle
over the horizon all through Hie
league and the United Press ad
mittedly noes out on a limb to
predict the season will end with
the teams finishing in this order:
I -Los Angeles Angels.: 2
Seattle Hainicrt,: Portland

5 Sacramento Solons:' ((---Oakland
Acorns; 7 Holly wood Stars;
8 San Hiei'o Padres.
HcKorvns Are Factor
'. The "upseltini:" factor in the
1!M!) pennant chase may be a
great second-line of reserves -
something entirely missing from
Uie lil'M contenders.
. The Kainiors, wlyi finished
fifth last year, but just three
games out of second, have add
ed u batting punch in the acquis
ition of Chuck Aleno, Ted Nor
bcrt and Bob Finley. If Manager
Bill Skifr can round nut his usually-strong
pitching staff, the Se
attle club mav furnish the ma
jor conlentym.
. Admittedly Manager M a r v
Owen is going to miss Marino
Pieretti. the Uli-game winner,
from his Portland mound corps.
But the Heavers have added
three good hurlers to take his
place and again .should be a fac
tor in deciding the big money
winnersr-

to Nelson, Snead, Jug McSpaden

Nelson's partner in winning the
Miami four-ball tourney. In
addition, Sgt. Jim Ferrier of San
Francisco won the Oakland open:
and Ray Mangrum of Los Ange
