In Home Wedding Yesterday; Will
Live In Los Angeles After Trip.

Cal., yesterday afternoon at the home
pf Miss Stance's parents.
Promptly at 4:30 o'clock the can
dles were lighted by Miss Mildred
Staadley, Preceding the ceremony
which was rend by Rev. J. George
tyalz, of the First Presbyterian church
before the fountain In tho oun room,,
banked with white gladioluses and
ferns, Jack Dennis, of Pendleton,
ang "Oh Pi-omlse Me" and "Be
cause." Mrs. Newton Ashby played
the wedding music. The little Misses
Loralee Warnock and Ellen Meyers,
Nancy Bohnenkamp and Joan Bouvy
formed an aisle to the altar with rib
bon. -
The bride who was given away by
her father wore an Ivory satin dress

sister of the bride, acted as matron
of honor and wore a yellow taffeta
frock trimmed with antique blue,
with a large hat to match, and car
ried an old-fashioned bouquet of blue
blooms. Mrs. Hester Hopkins Gregg
and Mrs. Virginia Warnlck McClench,
botii of Portland, and Miss Glkla
Ashby and MIjs Bcmlco Wilson, of
La Gronde. acted as bridesmaids and
were gowned alike In antique blue
net trimmed with yellow and weir
ing matching hats. Thoy carried old
fashioned bouquets of yellow glad
blooms.
George W. Decker acted as best
man for Mr. Palmer.
Following the ceremony, the guests
were received in tho parlors, Mis.
Palmer and Mrs. Stange receiving with
the bride and groom. In the dining
room, during the first hour. Mrs. L.
K. Klnzel cut the Ices and Mrs. Fred
King, aunts of tho bride, poured
and during the second hour, Mrs.
O. L. Unison and Mrs. Oscar
Warnock. Assisting in the rooms
were Mrs. Mildred Smith Tur
ley. Miss Marva Lyman, Miss Janet
King, of Lc3 Angeles, Mrs.. Edna Mae
Wilson Keffer. Miss Leali Bramwcll.

Mrs. Palmer attended the Univer
sity of Oregon and University of
Southern California and was a mem
ber or Delta Gamma. Mr. Palmer is
a graduate of U. S. C, was captain
of the 1033 football team and la a
member of Sigma Chi.
After a wedding trip along the
coast, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer will be
at home Sept. 1, In Los Angeles. ,

Mrs. Ella Russell expressed the greet

sponded. The group adjourned to the lodge
room for the business meeting where
tho chief Item of business was the
election of officers for the approach
ing year. Baker furnished all the
officers Inasmuch as the association
meeting next year will be held in
that city. Mrs. Carrie Jackson, a past
grand matron, will be the new presi
dent. Mrs. Castle, vice president. Mrs.
SchroecTer. secretary and Mrs. Lang
rell, treasurer. The meeting In 1935
will be held on August 31 as that Is
tho Natal Day of the Order of the
Eastern Star.
A brief program concluded the day.
Mrs. Roy Conklln. of Union, presented
a reading, and Miss Helen Reed, of
Union, gave a musical reading. "That
Old Sweetheart Of Mine," and for an
encore, "When The Minister Comes
To Tea."

had given up hope early last night.
The news placed a pall of silence
over this community and the rest of
Germany as well. The sorrow of the
villagers was too deep for expression.
They stood dumb.
To the residents of Neudeck and of
the nearby city of Prcystadt, the
passing of Von Hindenburg meant
more than the death of a president
It meant the departure of a close,
personal friend.
And that, here, meant more than
any such questions as the ascendancy
of Chancellor Adolf Hitler to new
power.
An Infantry regiment of honor
moved Into the estate from Deutach
eyman to pay proper military tri
bute. His burial will be at Neudeck at
U a. m. Tuesday.
Tannenburg, where Von Hlnden
burg turned back the Russian ad
vance in the early days of tho war,
will be the scene of a memorial ser
vice over the body of the dead presi
dent tomorrow.
The ibody will bo taken to Hohen
s teii). a, small town close to the Tan
nenburg monument, the scene of
state observance. Government offic
ials, diplomats, and Von Hiuden
burg'a brothers-in-arma, as well as a
large number. of fellow citizens from
all parts of Germany, are expected
to attend.
Von Hlndenburg not only was the
hero of tho German people, but evon
more so of tho reichswehr. He was
generally credited with being able to
do as he pleased with the aid of tho

is a very talented musician and who
