The Union Pacific Semi-Centennial marks fifty years
of progress for the Grande Ronde Valley. We are duly
appreciative of the prosperity that came to us with the
entrance of the Union Pacific Railroad into La Grande
in 1884, enabling us to broaden our trade areas and
extend our commerce into the world markets.. ;
We sincerely trust that your stay in La Grande will
be one of pleasure and joy. To those of you in Conven
tion, we hope your deliberations will be satisfying.
Again we say, WELCOME!
