Movie Theatres
By Rob I) In Coons
HOLLYWOOD Wlien women movie
fans were gasping at the spectacular
gowns affected by Gloria Swanson In
the days of her stardom in De Mine's
gilded films, they simply gasped and
let it go at that. They might have
envied but they didn't imitate.
Few women would have dreamed of
adapting for personal use the styles
Miss Swanson and her alters of the
cinema displayed. The designs were
purposely made extreme. If any new
note In fashion were on the hori
zon, the movie stars took It, exagger
ated It, and made the customers sit
up. Clothes of the screen were fan
tastic, extravagant, theatrical.
But today there are clothes manu
facturers specializing in cinema
modes, with one shop In a city given
exclusive representation. Shop E?ra
who are on their toes know what a
customer means when she says she
