If It weren't for the surprising
strength of Hollywood, the second
half of the Coast league's split sea
son would look very much like the
first. Los Angeles is tearing along
true to form, with four wins to Its
credit and no defeats. But Holly
wood, which showed very little in the
first half, Is up there, too, sharing
the lead with the champions.
The Stars made it four straight
over Oakland last night, 9-3 and the
Angels were carried to ten Innings at
Portland but finished ahead as usual.
4-3, when Frank Demaree doubled,
advanced to third on an out and
scored the winning count on Gil
Campbell's scratch hit. Kick. Ward
wag hit hard by the Beavers but went
the route.
A seventH inning triple by Frea
Berger followed by Bill Lawrence's
long fly broke a 1-1 tie at Seattle
last night and gave the Indians a 2-1
win over San Franclaco, evening the
series.

At The Liberty
The M-G-M-Cosmopolitan film ver
sion of Dashlell Hammett's latest
and greatest detective mystery, "The
Thin Man," will open Sunday at the
Liberty theatre. And the best of the
screeit detectives, William Powell
plays the leading role; with lovely
Myrna Loy as his lending lady. .

films, "The Thin Man" Is probably
