Are Married Saturday Evening
And Go At Once to Hermiston
The marriage of Miss Reta Conner
and Hershel Talbot wa solemnized
Saturday evening at 10:00 o'clock at
trie home of Rev. and Mrs. w. H
Hertzog, 908 Spring atreet, Rev. Mr,
Hertgog reading the service. The
bride who wore a drew of pink crepe
and a corsage of sweet peas, was at'
tended by Mrs. Ralph Scarbo, while
Mr. Scarbo served Mr. Talbot as his
best man. Mr. and Mrs. Talbot left
Immediately for Hermiston where
they plan to remain for about a
month.
The bride on this occasion Is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Con
ner, and was graduated from the La
Grande High school In the class of
1931. Mr. Talbott Is In the employ
of the state highway department.

terested to learn that the engagement
of Franklin K. Eberhard and Miss
Janice Etlgor, of Sun Francisco has
been made recently with the mar
riage to be an event of the latter part
of the month; Mr. Eberhard, who is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Colon Eber
hard of this olty and Is very well
known here, was graduated from
Stanford university where he was i
member of the Phi Kappa Sigma frat
ernlty In March 1033, and has since

Members of the Young Women's
Educational auxiliary are planning a
picnic for Thursday evening, June 31
at Pine Cone, an Innovation In the
annual programs, which usually last
from October to May. The picnic
supper will oe served at 8:00 o'clock
and transportation will be furnished.
Members end their frlonds are In
vited and all are asked to call either
Avis Ferris or members of the Library
staff for Instructions as to the supper.

The annual picnic of the Ever-
ready class of tho First Christian
church held Sunday at the foot of
Mt. Emily was considered a genuine
succcas with about 60 pooplo present.
The lesson study was conducted
under tho direction of tho teacher of
the class, Miss Annetta Johnson, and
sorvlco of worship Including tho
communion service was nold with
Miss Dorothy Smutz having charge.
'Hie dinner was prepared by tho com
mittee with Mm. Ruth Helvoy as
chairman and an afternoon of recroa-
tlon was In charge of Bcnulfi Hicks.

This week will complete the seri
ous training at camp, winding up
with the annual sham battle on Sat
urday, with the 188th Infantry taking
tile leading part this year. The two
rllle regiments alternate from year to
year In the demonstration, which la
usually witnessed by from 30,000 to
60,000 spectntors.
Promotions at camp include the

M. Lambert. Specialists annointed
