PLAN MILK POOL
FOR WEST AREA
PORTLAND, Feb. 8 VP) Establish
ment of a pooling agency by which
milk and cream surpluses In the
Portland mJlkHhed may bo controlled
and the Industry otherwise stabilized,
may be effected by Saturday, it was
said, here today by E. O. Harlan,
chairman of the Oregon milk control
board.
Next week the control board will
visit, Baker, La Grande, Pendleton
and other Eustern Oregon cities
where meetings will bo held, data col
lected, and suggestions heard for ul
timate formulation of price schedules
and milkshed boundaries

"The hideous hours of suspense
have been almoot unbearable for all
of us," uald the elder Bremer.
A possible cluo to the gang was
given by Douglas Street, 33, chauf
feur for Dr. Walt-man Walters, Mayo
clinic physician at Rochester. Street
said he saw two well dressed men In
an automobile bearing a New York
license at Lewlston, Minn., about 3
a. m., today. Lewis ton la 37 miles east
of Rochester,
Walter Magee, wealthy contractor
friend of the family, was the -Intermediary
who delivered the ransom.
Full details of the delivery were not
disclosed.
In view of the family's earlier
statements, that they wer ready and
eager to pay tho full ransom, tho view
was taken in some quarters that the
entire $200,000 was turned over to
tho captors.
Howard McGonn and Mrs. Jennie
Halght, employes in the bus depot at
Rochester, were believed to hav been
the first persons to see the banker
after his release.
Ho entered the depot, they said,
about 8 p. m,, yesterday, asking about
bus connections with the Twin Cltlea.
They told him he 'had missed the
last bus that night to the Twin
Cities but that he could take a train
to Owatonna, nearby, and catch a bus
there. I
Bremer was quoted as saying he
could nt do that. McGonn and Mrs.
Halght paid no particular attention
to the unshaven stranger, who ap
peared dazed, they said, and did not
