Both Complimented at Affairs
On Birthday Anniversaries
While President Rooeovelt wni
celebrating hts birthday, two La
Gra riders also were honored yesterday
on the occasion of their natal days.
Mrs. I. H. Norton was complimented
at an affair preceding the Birthday
ball at the Sacajawea Inn, and J. L.
Hedden was also complimented at a
dinner party arranged by his daugh
ter, Miss Grace Hedden.
Mrs. h. H. Norton was the guest
of honor at an event for which her
husband was host at their apartment
at the Sacajawea Inn last night.
Dessert was served with a pink and
white color scheme carried out In the
table decorations and In the birthday
cake. A centerpiece of pink sweet
peas was attractively arranged on the
dessert table,
later In the evening the guests
attended the President's Birthday ball

When Mrs. Anna Stndman, a well
known pioneer resident of Baker, ob
served her 84th birthday anniversary
Sunday, Jan. 28, Mrs. Julius Clausen,
of La Grande, her daughter, was
among the guests. A large birthday
dinner was arranged in her honor
and "open house" was held in the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank I.
Burt, in Baker.
Many of her friends and relatives
called during the afternoon to con
gratulate her.
. Mrs. Stadman was born in Ger
many In 1850, came to Portland in
1866, and then to Baker In 1873.
Parish Dinner
To Be Held Feb. 2
Members of St. Peters parish will
hold a parish dinner Friday evening,
February 2 in Honan hall. The hour
of the event Is set as 6:15 o'clock.

The child study group of the J. H.
Ackerman P. T. A. held an Interesting
meeting Tuesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. Glenn Wagner, with
Mrs. Lloyd Pierce leading the discus
sion of the topic. It was announced
that her next subject would be
"Forming of Habits."
The group meets every two weeks
and the next meeting Is scheduled
