The La Grande High school stu
dent ibody met In assembly at 9
o'clock Friday, January 26 wKh Prin
cipal Gralapp Ixif charge. Mr. Gralapp
announced, that we would have two
basketball games over the coming
weekend. Baker at Baker on Friday,
January 26 and North Powder at La
Grande on Saturday. January 27. Next
week will be a very interesting one
at the high school. On Wednesday
Miss SorUUn'a expression class will
present a talent program before the
student body, arid; on Friday the se
nior citufe will have charge at a tal
ent program.
Following the above preliminary
announcement Mr. 'Gralapp turned
President Ralph Floberg, who con
ducted the student pep assembly In
preparation for the weekend basket
ball contests. On the program wore
the following:
The Boy' Gleo club, directed by
Andrew Loney, presented four num
bers; they were:
1. "Marching Song," arranged by
Noble Cain.
3. "Lo, How a Rose ETer Blooming,"
arranged by Praetorlus.
3. "Home on The Range," arranged
by Gulon.
4. "Caisson Song," arranged by No
ble Coin.
A lew short talks were glvon !by
different members- of the basketball
team; those speaking wore Kohnotli
Webb, Don Stttt, and Sheldon Hyde.
Student body singing was partici
pated In with Janet Blngner, Song
Queen, In charge.
Student Body yelling was conduct
ed with atudent Cheer King in
charge. Class competition was par
ticipated in also, with tho respective
class cheer loadors in charge.

TRIP TO BAKER
Oh the way to Baker some of the
team was unfortunately detained as
Mr. Huffman was in a hurry to take
the team over not realizing what the
speed limit was In itho city plus the
radio rausift-wbloh the boys were en
joying in "his icari"-he "heard a siren
behind which meo-nt to pull over to
the side of the road.
The traffio officer asked htm
"what's tho rush?" and lie explained
that the team was late leaving for
Baker. After exchanging a few words,
the officer told him to be careful the
next time or he would receive a
ticket.-
A largo crowd of students and
townspeople were there to cheer the
Tigers on to victory. Wayne Gooder
hara led the group with most of the
school yells and was supported by all
those who attended from here.
A loud speaker was installed In the
gym which made it convenient to
listen to the scores between quarters.
Tho O'Brien twins, formerly residents
of La Grande, tap danced at the ha'.f
and were given a loud applause fwm
the crowd.
After tho game, the team enjoyed
a milk-shako and sandwich at Mil
ler's confectionary. Fiom hero the
team left for home to rest up for the
following game with North Powder.

EXPERIMENTS
IN PHYSICS
Interesting experiments which have
been made In the Physics H class
during the last few days brought very
accurate results.
One was to plot a cooling curve Tor
crystalline substances. This was made
with acctamlde. The other was Bnade
during study of the heat of fusion of
ice.
