While In Salt Lake City, Mrs. stod
: dard visited her two new grandchil
dren, recently born to Mr. and Mrs'.
Waldo Stoddard, a son and daughter-in-law,
and also visited her daughter,
Mrs. h. B. Ballard, and Mr. Ballard.
Mrs., Stoddard Is at her homo at
1802 Fourth street.

Bridge Luncheon
At Riverside Park
A delightful bridge luncheon was
enjoyed toy the members and guests
of the lu A. L. club yesterday of ter-
n6on at one o'clock at Riverside park.
; A no-hoe teas luncheon was served at
! small table placed under the trees
I and decorated with centerpieces of
; sweet peas and baby breath.
Prizes at bridge were awarded to
Mrs. Harry Dow, first, and Mrs. Juck
Htatt Sr., second. Quests for the af
ternoon were Mrs. Howard Glenn and
Mrs. W. B. McClure.
Members of the committee in
charge were Mrs. Dow, Mrs. Avery
Harrison and Mrs. James Oneal.

Juveniles Enjoy
Picnic at Park
Thlrty.four onjoyed the picnic held
by Mt. Emily circle, No. 70, Neighbors
of Woodcraft Juveniles yesterday at
Riverside ark. Pinner was served at
cne o'clock after which the Juveniles
enjoyed a swim. Ice cream was served i

James Carter Weds
Esther Haskins
Of Interest to their La Grande
friends was the marriage In Walla
Walla on Tuesday of James Carter,
of La Grande, and Esther Haskins,
of Miles City, Mont. Miss Haskins Is
a sister of Tom Haskins, of La
Grande, and Mr. Carter Is a son of
Mr. and Mrs. L. Carter, who have 'been
residents of this city for almost 30
years. They were married by ReV. Mr.
Shangle, former district superinten
dent of the Methodist Church, South
with headquarters In La Grande.
Mr. and Mrs, Carter are visiting his
parents here and will return Satur
day to Connell, Wash., where' they
will make their home.
Group Gathers
For Picnic
A group of former La Grande High
school students gathered at Pino Cone
Thursday for a picnic luncheon and
a pleasant afternoon of conversation.
Some also enjoyed swimming.

daughter, Laura Lee; Mrs. jean Blok-
land. Miss Beulah Smith and her
house guest, Miss Rosalie Parker, of

Of Bridge Parties
A lovely one o'clock luncheon, com
pleted the series of bridge parties
which have been enjoyed by the
members of tlie Ah Delth club, Thurs
day afternoon at the' home of Mrs.
M. B. Donohue. A centerpiece of cut
garden flowers decorated the table.
Alter luncheon- they went to tlie
home of Mrs. Charles Griffin for
cards. Accumulative scores have been
kept during the year and prizes were
awarded according to the aggregate

Dance Tomorrow '
The summer session dance at the
Eastern Oregon Normal school will
be an event of tomorrow evening at
the Normal school ball room, with
students and former students in
vited. Dancing will begin at 9 o'clock
with music furnished by Lindsay's
