THI3 lion wagged Ills tall a bit
. and Dotty shotitod, "Think ot
It! Why, J believe he's friendly.
Mnybe we are quito all right.
"Of course, If lie begins to roar,
I will be very scared, once more.
Perhaps It's safer to stay right
up In this tree till night." .
"Of course It Is," snapped
Goldy. "You can bet that's what
, I'm going to do. I wouldn't trust
n lion farther than a frog can
bop.
"I'll sit"rlgbt up here on this
limb, so I can keep away from
him. I know 'twould be the end
ot mo, if I'd decide to drop."
.
THEN Duncy said, "I guess
you're right. In fact, we're In
an awful plight. I wish someone
would come along and scare the
beast away.
"Just look! ' He's being funny,
now. He's trying to get us down,
somehow. Those antics are sup
posed to make us think ho wants
to play."
The lion then whirled 'round
and 'round and shortly flopped
upon the ground. The craiy
stunts made Dotty laugh. "That'
beast is trained,'' she cried.
"W!y honestly, I almost feel
that, after all, ho Isn't foal. Look
closely and you'll see he lias a
very iunny hide?"''--' . . '
64"yOU'RE right," a real faint
voice cried out. "You've
guessed what this is all about."
"Who said that?" shouted Duncy,
"I can't see a soul around."Q :
The lion then spreadright In
two. The same .faint: voiift. said,
"Howdy do! Why stay upHn the
tree, when It Is safe down on
the ground?" .
'Twos Scouty, In the lion's hide.
And Windy, loo! Wee Duncy
cried, "Three cheers for my two
little pals. Let's get out of the
tree.'
In Just a moment they were
out. Said Goldy, "What's it all
about? -Your finding us, X must
admit, is strange as It .can be."
