rata; 84 range water Improvements,
and 28 miles of drift fence.
Under road and trail work, a total
of 307 miles of secondary or fort it
road., aro to be built, while 110 miles
are to be bettered. Trail work win
consist of 226 miles of new work ana
Improving 81 miles of existing fores-,
trails.
The regional forester brought out
Ihe fact that not only will this na
tional forest Improvement program
help local unemployment relief sltua
tlons, but will call for large quanti
ties of lumber, shingles, telephone and
barbed wire, and a wide variety of
liaidwaro and building material.
Labor for this work is being hand
led entirely by the forest supervisors
of the 14 national forests of Oregon,
co-operating with their local relief
agencies.

man Parley let other problems ac
cumulate on his desk in New York
while he Joined In the western quest.
It was at the conclusion of an ex
traordinary series of conferences'that
the chairman returned eastward an
nouncing that birth of "a great lib
eral party" was at hand.
