Radio Star, Dies
PORTLAND, Ore., July 11' UP) MISS
Dorothy Lewis, 37, whose mezzo-sop-rnno
voice was' known to radio audi
ences' along the Pacific coast and
throughout the1 northwest, died' here
Sunday at? the home of her1 father,
H". L. Lewis. She had' been ill' a
month.
Miss Lewis for the past two years
had been In San Francisco with the
National Broadcasting company, sing
ing over station KPO. She entered
radio work here, where she sang for
several years over station KOW.
Before taking up radio work. Miss
Lewis was in vaudeville, singing on
the Pantages circuit for about seven
years, she was born In Portland
November 28, 1804.
Besides her father she Is survived
by two brothers. Police Captain H. A.
Lewis and' John L. Lewis, and a sister
Miss Helena M. Lewis, all of Portland'.

years has built a model of what he
calls a "flying fish" boat which ho
claims is capable of a speed of 300
miles an hour. The boat Is projectile

stem to stern. Ballast Is counted upon
to keep the boat right side up.

Four burly guards who had ma
