Letters received by friends In the
valley from Gilbert. Hunter, former
valley farmer who has been In the
Veterans hospital In Portland, for
many weeks have quite a cheerful
note. Mr. Hunter has been bedfast
ever since he went to Portland and
contrary to JP stories he has not
been able to be up and around a
any time. The seat of his trouble has
been located, it is believed. He states
that because of the condition of his
heart, he may not be able to live In
this altitude, and he Is certain that
he will never be able to do farm, work
again.
Another Picnic-
Another picnic party yesterday at
Riverside Park consisted of the pu

Pleasant Grove school, and there
were around fifty people in this
party. Like all such events the day
wan spent In games, such as the park
affords, viy.ltlng and partaking of
a wonderful dinner In the pavilion
at noon. Miss Leona Fries and Mrs.
Garnet Ruckman are the teachers of
this school where 33 pupils have
studied during the year which closed
yesterday. The children are deter
mined to keep together this summer
and have already planned a hike and
weiner roast which they are to have
on June 3.
