churches of the city. Musical num
bers, interesting sermons and other
types of worship will be enjoyed In
commemoration of the triumphal en
try of Jesus Into Jerusalem, when the

Washington and Sixth .
Palm Sunday is the last Sunday In
Lent, tho first day of Holy Week and
the Sunday Immediately preceding
Easter. It commemorates Jesus' tri
umphal entry Into Jerusalem, ac
companied by the - multitude who
greeted Him with hosannas, waving
palm branches and scattering them
before Him in the way. Lot the
church and her people rise, to the oc
casion, and fill the sanctuaries of
our city to do Him honor, Rev. J.
Ceorge Walz urges.
They offer a service that they be
lieve will bring blessing to all who
attend, at 11 o'clock. The minister
will speak on "The Christ Triumph
ant." Mrs. Harley Richardson will
play the prelude "Prayer" by Harris.
The chimes will be in evidence. The
quartet will be present to assist in
the songs of praise. W. W. Kusbaum,
baritone, will sing "The Palms" ar
ranged by Saure, and Andrew Loney,
cornetlst, will play the offertory num
ber. At tho 7:30 p. m. hour, Miss Gladys
Miller will preside at the organ and
play tho prelude "Scherzo" by Rog
ers, and the offertory ' prayer and
"Response" by Rockwell, and
R. L. Skeen will sing "The Living
God" arranged by Jeoffrey O'Hara.
The minister will speak on "The
Word of Victory.!'
Sunday Bible school with classes
for all ages, meets at 9:46 Sunday
morning with Harold Finlay super
Intending the program. Junior
Christian Endeavorers meet at 3 p.
m., and Senior-Intermediate and

Seventh Street at Penn
Palm Sunday will be observed at
the Church of Christ with appro
priate and Interesting services. The
pastor, Paul De. P. Mortlmore an
nounces that tle subject of the
morning sermon will be "The King of
Kings." He says, "Palm Sunday
should cause the world to stop and
consider. The nations of the world
are In great distress. The peoples of
all countries are feeling more and
more the oppression of Inequitable
distribution of Justice. Democracy Is
being seriously questioned as a
panacea' for governmental Ills. Ex
periments being made in new forms
of government are disappointing In
their results. All of these things
Inevitably result from the turning
away from the King of Kings. Un
til He shall establish His righteous
kingdom upon the earth, there shall
be unrest,"
The services at wie morning hour
will be beautified with song and wor
ship. The communion will be ob
served as Is the custom of Churches
of Christ. All Christians are priv
ileged to participate In this holiest
of ordinances.- An ianthem will ,be
presented by the choir, and the pas
tor will bring the sermon.
The Bible school attendance last
Sunday was 243, and It is expected
that this number will be exceeded this
week. Many new pupils are being
enrolled in all departments. The
superintendent of the school, Miss
Dorothy Smutz, states that all who
wish to engage In a study of the
Bible are Invited to this school. Ev
ery lesson is Bible centered. The
teaching of the Bible and its ap
plication to life Is the aim of the
school.
The evening fcvanceUstlc service
will be conducted alone the usual
plan, which Is interesting such large
crowds every Sunday. This service
meets at 7 :3Q ' and opens with a
prelude concert by the 20 piece or
chestra. The music of this organ
izatlon is winning many friends for
the evening service. ' The concert
Sunday evening will Include "My
Savior" by Zamccnlk, "Dear Heart"
Serenade, by Mackle-Beyer, and a
medfey of gospel hymns. A choir
of 16 voices assists In the song serv
ice which follows the concert.
The subject of the evening ser
mon will be "The Wondrous Cross."
Mr. Mortlmore states that all of the
sermons, he has ever preached, this
one appeals to himself as being the
best. An unusually large attend
ance is expected at the service.
The Christian Endeavor societies
meet at 6:30 p. m. for prayer and
study. ' All ages of young people
are Included in this meeting, as there
arp age groups for all. A hearty In
vitation Is extended to all to attend
these services.

The next two weeks are in' many
churches the most significant days
of the Christian calendar. Rev. W. H.
Hertzog, pastor of the First Meth
odist church feels. He will speak
on the theme, "Triumph for Today,"
Sunday morning at tho 11 o'clock
service, and Paul Knautz will sing
"Tho Palms," by Faure. The chorus
choir will sing Henry Parker's Palm
Sunday anthem. "Jerusalem."
At the 7 o'colck evening service the
Women's Missionary societies are pre
senting two pageants with a total
cast of about 30 people. The young
people's choir, directed by Harvey
Carter, will furnish the musio for
the evening, and Gwendolyn Hert
zog will Blng a contralto solo.
The Sunday school will begin
promptly at 0:45, and the orchestra,
directed by Miss Helen Williams, will
play the first two numbers.

11 o'clock Sunday, and the' pastor
will speak on the topic, "Jesus Christ
Is Lord." "Holy Spirit, Heavenly
Guide." by McPhail, will be sung by
the choir accompanied by Miss Helen
Jensen, pianist.
Sunday school is held In the an
nex at 0:45, with "Prayer" as the
theme of study.
The attendance at Sunday school
is constantly growing, and Interest
Is Increasing. An Easter frieze Is
being made from pictures of the
final events in Jesus' life: The Last
Supper, The Prayer in Gethsemane,
The Crucifixion, Tho Resurrection
and the Visit at Emmaus. The Res
urrection picture will be placed on
the frieze Sunday morning and the
Easter story retold. All are welcome
at this school, where .they may find
a class for their uge.
Luther League at 7:00 p. m., will
be in charge of Edna Jensen, who
will lead the discussion of the topic
"How Can I Show my Crowd that
I am a Christian?" Young -people
will find that these are interesting
and challenging discussions of Jcstts'
attitude toward life,' .

"Matter" will be the subject of
the Lesson -Sermon In all Churches
of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, Mar.
30.
The golden text will be "Be still,
and know that I am God: I will be
exalted among the heathen, I will
be exalted In the earth". (Ps. 46:10).
Among the citations which com
prise the LesBon-Sermon will be the
following from the Bible: "My peo
ple have changed their glory for
that which doth not profit. They
have forsaken me the fountain of
living waters, and hewed them out
cisterns, broken cisterns, that can
hold no water" (Jer. 2:11, 13).
The Lesson-Sermon also Includes
the following passages from the

Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy:

How easily we become discour
aged! When we are striving to over
come a fault, we start hopefully; we
are determined never to commit the
fault again. For a time we go In
the power of our resolution. Then
does our determination weaken? is
temptation too sudden? something
happens, and we fall. Again we re
pent,, this time with despair.
What is the use of trying again?
Wo were so sure we should not fall
the last time, but we have. Why
should we try? Is It not really im
possible for us to resist successfully?
Can we help It If we are not strong
enough? Does not the experience show
us what we are really like?
Yes,' undoubtedly, we know now
what we are like! We may as well
face that fact. But that Is not nec
essarily what we need remain. What
we are Is what we must start from.
It does no good to tell ourselves that
it would all be so simple It only we
were different. It is our business to
make ourselves different and that
is not accomplished In a moment,
nor by a single resolution.
We must not dwell morbidly on our
faults. It we have realized them,
that Is enough for repentance. Then,
forgetting those things which are
behind." let us reach forth "unto
those things which are before." And
let us thank God that the King
dom of God is within us, and that we
have His help for our good en
deavors. .

Blend sugar and flour. -. Add rest
of Ingredients. Cook slowly and stir
constantly until filling thickens.
Cool and use.
Mince Ham Filling '
(For 8 Sandwiches)
, 2-3 cup chopped ham -
1 hard cooked egg, diced. 1
2 tablespoons pickle relish
.2 tablespoons chopped onion -
3 tablespoons salad dressing
Mix ingredients with fork. Spread
on buttered slices of thinly cut
white bread. Add shreds of lettuce
and cover with other buttered
slices.

1 cup diced pineapple
1 cup diced peaches . ,
1 cup diced bananas
; 2 tablespoons lemon Juice
teaspoon salt
Mix ingredients and serve.

This behavior may be the expres
sion of uncontrolled anger, or again

the child Indulges in because in Its
experience It has served well as a
means for gaining its wishes.
The original outburst of temper

child learned the value of the "act."

2 tablospoona cinnamon : -

1 teaspoon nutmeg
; 2 cups ground oatmeal flakes
' 2 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
- Cream the fat and sugar. Add
eggs, vanilla and cream. Add rest
of Ingredients, and chill dough.
Roll out citough uiitll lit ' Is one-
fourth inch thick. On one half of It
spread date filling. Fold other half
over filling and press down. Use
sharp knife and cut 1 inch squares,
Press edges of each square with fork
and prick tops with fork. Bake 16
minutes on greased baking sheets in
moderate open.
