Rogue River Traffic association yes
terday estimated .that the Medford
district pear crop this year will be
about 76 per cent of that harvested
lost season.
The estimate for the Bosc crop Is
the same as in 1930, witn cornice,
D'Anjous and Bartletts .lower. The

eastern title from Mrs, Dorothy
Campbell Hurd, of Philadelphia, a
former riatlonul champion, by five
Strokes in the 18-holo playoff of the

Miss Hicks cained a severx-stroko
lead on the first nine holos which
she covered In 80, two under women's
par for the Engineers' Country Club
course, "but .she lost all but two of
these at the 11th and 12th holes

She pulled herself togother, how
ever, halved the 12th and clinched
the match at the 14th where she- In
creased her lead to five strokes when
Mrs. Hurd, visiting one hunker after
