Record Thursday
' Mrs. L. K. Klnzel, one of Eastern
Oregon's strongest contenders lor the
state golf tournament In Portland,
broke the course record for women
esterday In the flag tournament held
it the La Grande country club. The
nine-hole .record was lowered two
Mrs. W. C. Williams won first place
in the flag tournament, .with a score
of 130 strokes, 60 handicap and 70
net- Mrs. Klnzel's scores were 95
strokes, "12 handicap and 83 net. Mrs.
Williams planted the flag In the cup
on the 19th green, and Mrs. Klnzelj
planted hers In the middle of the
19th fairway. .
A potluck luncheon was served at
12 :30 In the club house, and after
two rounds of golf tea was served.
Next Thursday there will be sweep
stakes play for all who have Joined
the sweepstakes, according to Mrs.
John Theison, tournament committee
chairman. Because of the. country,
club rummage sale being held In La
Grande it is expected that the course
will be fairly deserted today and to
morrow. Mrs. c. H. Reynolds and Mrs.
Klnzel are In charge of the event. . !'

luncheon a regular meeting will be
