At Intervals during 'the afternoon
the auditorium was opened and pro
grama were ' presented - under the di
rection of Lehoro Headley. Gladys
Roberts played a lively gypsy song' on
the "piano; after which ' "Buddy"
Reynolds, dressed as an organ grinder,
played a group of numbers on the
accordion.
A Bohemian folk dance, directed by
Miss Catherine Osborne, instructor In
physical education, was danced by a
group of 16 girls, accompanied by
Winona Nichols.
"I Dreamed I Dwelt in Marble
Halls," an aria from the "Bohemian

representing various countries were
in order at the "hard-time" party
given by the Gleaners and M. Men
of the M. L A. last evening at the
home of Mr. and Mnr.' lwu Russell.
Games were played during the eve

danced, followed by a parade, in
which all took part. "
Lunch was served by 'Mrs. Stanley
Jenkins, Mrs. Elmo Clegg, and Mrs.
George Williams. The entertainment

probably will bo worn for sports this
summer by Amorlcau girls. .

dull checks are combined with one
color wools and silks in some very
smart playtime fancies.

6 teaspoons baking powder,
a -3 teaspoon salt,
. 3 tablespoons lard.
3. tablespoons butter.
ilA cups milk,.
Mix the flour, baking powder nnd
salt. Cut In the lard and butter with
a knife. Mixing with knife, Blowly
add milk. When soft dough forms,
pat it out until 1 Inch thick, put
out with a small bUcult outtor, Ar
range biscuit, side by side, on un
greased tin or aluminum pan and
bake 13 mlnutos in moderate oven.

1 package lemon flavorod gelatin
mixture.
2 cups boiling water.
1 cup chopped cabbage,,
l& oup chopped colery.
1-3 cup ohoppod pimento.
1-3 cupN chopped- pimento stuffed
olives.
14 teaspoon paprika.
', 14 teaspoon Bait.
2 tablespoons BUgar.
2 tbalespoons chopped pickles.
2 tablespoons-Vinegar.
Pour the water over gelatin mix
ture and stir until thoroughly dis
solved. Add tho seasonings and cool.
Add rest of ingredients and pour Into
a mold which has boon rinsed out of
cold water. Set In cold place to stif
fen. Unmold. Serve on lettuce and
top with, salad dressing or mnyon-
liUiBO.
