clever manner by Miss Lena Foley and
Miss Marjorla Condlt at a meeting ot
the contemporary literature group, of
the American Association of Univer
sity Women at the, home of Miss
Helen Moor last evening. -
."There is Another- Heaven," Is a
satire on life, while "Phillppa,'' is the
story of a very frank and interesting
young person after whom the book is
named. .
.The group will meet again In two
weeks with Miss Mildred HawkBworth
at the Walter Reuter home.

and splashing prints designed in
zigzag lines were shown by a promi
nent Parisian dressmaker here as the
last word in spring togs.
Even monotone dresses of appar
ent simplicity revealed triangular or
square piecing of the most Intricate
design while others were frankly
mystifying with ruffles winding from
hip to hem in striking drapes and
graduated peplums.
Black and dark blue chiffon or
erepe afternoon frocks foatured
cream puff sleovcs made of myriad
rows of valenclennes laco of dark
shadow lace sleeves under walBt length
capes. Tho simplest daytime models
had standing, flat, or bib collars of
white pique or bright silk Scottish
plaids; while several models displayed
plaid silk underskirts showing sev
eral inches below tho hems. .
Even sports models, featuring
green, oiue, oeigo ana rod ptaius
and stripes combined with plain col
ors were exhibited with complicated
vests and trouscr blouses. The eve
ning gowns used several materials
and colors in ono model.
White cotton lace combined with
organdy, velvet loaves and flowors
appllqued on net, rows of narrow lace
stitched on voile, and black stitch
ing on light crepe, were among the
newest evening notes. Brilliant
largo flowered chiffons designed in
overlapping drapes and tiers were a
favorlto among the exhibits.
The Jewels dispalycd with the
gowns were as complicated as the
dresses. Brilliants, colored with
crystals, corals and Jado, were de
signed In three tiered necklaces and
bracelets generally contrasting In
color with the gown.
