which wo can with unfailing cer
tainty prevent, and yet, In 1929.
38.062 individuals contracted tho
disease 132 of these died.
It is of Interest to note that there
were more cases of small-pox In
1929 than in 1028, and more in 1928
than in 1927.

security by the relative rarity of
small-pox.

Bmall-pox in Washington, D. C and
Camden New Jersey, and among
those stricken approximately one

2794 cases of small-pox, with 232

pox In the United States and Cana
de. for 1929, well summarised the
condition by saying:
"The danger of a widespread out
break of virulent small-pox Is ever
present, because the number of
susceptible persons Is large.
"Until this number is greatly re
duced by general acceptance of
vaccination there will be no real se
curity against Small-pox."
