For instance there Is stagger edg ing, which the knowing ones here call "staggering". Staggering is a modern tattered rendition of what once was called pinking. Some people call . stagger edges "saw-tooth trimming." and still others call It snip-finish. In addition to the jagged, un seamed edges, leading dressmakers are using scallops and honest-to-good ness rlck-rack. They employ these trims for lightweight tweeds and plain materials, on both coats and dresses. The fine handkerchief linen blouses of midsummer are notably partial to rick-rack edged collars and arm holes. Even chiffon evening dresses have frayed edges with never a stitch of i finish on hemlines and loose godets.
