Ono New Jlody Typo
In addition to new bodies, one
new body typo is introduced this
J year. This Is the patriciun sedan
with super-deluxe equipment. This
year all standard body types can
also be obtained with five wiro
wheel equipment at slight extra
cost.
The standard body types include
tho four-door sedan, two-door se
dan, business coupe, sport coupe,
phaeton and convertible roadster.
These types can also bo had with
special or deluxe equipment.
Uodles are wider, providing nn
additional Inch and one-half width
tq the scats. This has been made
possible -by the new body lines und('
by decreasing tho depth of the
wheel housings. Bodies of the
two-door sedan havo also been
lengthened one nnd three-quarters
Inches.
Tho radiator shell and front of
the Oldsmobile remain unchanged,
however, a molding runs from the
radlulor along tho sides of the
hood and cowl to tho windshield
post where it blends Into a side
panel formed by tho molding and
by the lower portion of the new
window recess. '

dition to tho new beauty incorpor
ated In tho Oldsmoblle design, tho
bodies have been made substan
tially stronger through improve
ments of structural design. These
include the uso of heavier frame
membem and additional metal
braces nt roof, sills and corners
where st rai ns a nd stresses are
more llludy to occur.
A fully enclosed, two-shoe, press
ed steel Internal expanding brake
had been selected for all four
wheels, A high co-efficiency of
brake lining is used and this is
cut In a special manner to cllmin
ato the possibility of" noisy opera
tion. The parking brake actuates nil
four wheel.
The steering gear also Is a new
development which gives ample
freedom during sharp turns nnd
smooth operation throughout Its
entire rnnge.
Tho engine is of "L-head" de
sign. The bore is 3 3-t G inches
and the stroke i 1-S inches, giving
a displacement of ifl7.5 cubic In
ches. It develops G'2 horsepower
at 3000 revolutions per minute.
Tiiibrication is by pressure feed to
all main, connecting rod and
camshaft bearings nnd to piston
pins through rifle drilled connect
ing rods. The crankshaft is of
heavy construction and operates
on four kirge main bearings. The
curves Jn tho combustion chamber
have- been slightly modified, and
this change has permitted placing
the spark plugs more to the cen
ter. I'astor Acceleration.
Vaster acceleration and improv
ed hlll-ctlmblng ability have been
obtained by ft change In the gear
ratio from 4.41 to 4.54. Top speed
remains tho same, A new type rear
axle housing is used.
Using six springs in the clutch
has resulted In softer clutch ac
tion and a new type carburetor
Is employed which enhances
smooth engine performance In
creasing gasoline economy and Is
easily adjusted.
