Twenty-seven manufacturers entered the comix-tition but
only 15 ships entered the tests. Of the 15 only two passed a
najorily of the tests and but one met all of the conditions.
That one ship was the quest of the Guggenheim Foundation.
It represents its goal, or rather its first goal, for it is expected
of the winning craft that it will be the father of still letter
airplanes.
The chosen plane can fly at 35 miles an hour, glide at 38
stop within 100 feet after touching the ground, take off in
a space 500 foet square surrounded by obstacles 35 feet high,
land within 300 feet after jrUdiwr over an obstruction 35
