following un earlier? telegram of
Ills father's death, which occurred
In Spooner, Wis., on Oct. 21. His
father, T. H. Hlllman, was S2 years
of age and was well known in La
Grande, having spent about six
months here winter before last
with his son. While In Iai Grande
Mr. Hillinun attended the G. A. It.
and American Legion, meetings
regularly In fact, it was a com
bination of two posts, as Mr. Hill-'
man was the only surviving mem
ber of tlio Spooner G. A. K. and
Willi Ills dea tli. t he organization
past out of existence. He became
ill While en route home to Wis
consin, where h0 spent the remain
der of his life. He enlisted in
Company H, Gruhllllnois Infantry
on Apr. 13, and served until
the end of the Civil war. At his
funeral, lie was accorded full mlll
