Gone is that ancient prejudice against cigarettes Progress
has been made. We removed the prejudice against cigarettes
when ivc removed harmful corrosive ACRIDS (pungent
irritants) from the tobaccos. '
YEARS ago, when cigarettes were made without the aid of
modern science, there originated that ancient prejudice against
tJl cigarettes. That criticism i. no longer justified.. LUCKY STRIKE,
the finest cigarette you ever smoked, made of the choicest tobacco,
properly aged and skillfully blended "It's Toasted.''
"TOASTING," the most modern step in cigarette manufacture,
removes from LUCKY STRIKE harmful irritants which are pres-
ent in cigarettes manufactured in the old-fashioned wav.
Everyone knows that heat purifies, and so "TOASTING"
LUCKY STRIKERS extra secret process removes harmful cor
rosive ACRIDS (pungent irritants from LUCKIES which in the
old-fashioned manufacture of cigarettes cause throat irritation and
coughing. Thus "TOASTING" has destroyed that' ancient preju
dice against cigarette smoking by men and by women.

NEW COMBINATION
RATES
To He Effective
for
RURAL CUSTOMERS
on
OCTOBER TWENTY-FIRST
On October 21st a new rate schedule will go
into effect which will enable our rural custo-'
mers to obtain their lighting, cooking and pow
er service through one meter. The only restric
tion to this class of service is that the size of
any single mDtor is limited to seven and one
half horsepower.
This new schedule is optional, that is, if a cus
tomer will not realize a saving hy it, he will not
be required to take service under it. It is des
igned to give our rural customers an opportun
ity to use more electrical necessities and con
veniences at lower rates. These rates start at
fifteen cents per kilowatt hour (as at present)
and drop off in steps until a, rale of two cents
per kilowatt hour is reached.
As rapidly is possible our rural customers'
bills will he analyzed and notification sent to
those who will find it to their advantage to take
service- under the new schedule.
Further changes in existing rural rates will
hr announced in the near future.
