The funeral of A. J. Parks, who
died at the irotcstant hospital in
Baker on July 29s was held from
the Baptist church in Elgin on
Wednesday. .Mr. Parks formerly
lived in Union hut since the death
of h is wife last October he has
made his home with his daughter
at Pleasant Valley, He was 71
years of age.

Episcopal church congregation to
bid a double farewell 'to two mis
sionaries about to return to China
this morning at a breakfast party
that took place at Pine Cone.
, They were Dr. Ida Belle Lewis,
nationally known for her work at
11 wa Nan college in Koochow, Chi
na, as president of tlio Methodist
school there, and Geneva Sayro,
daughter of- Superintendent and
Mrs. E. A. Sayre, whose work is
well known here. She is going j.o
Kalfeng, China,
i The event had been arranged to
honor Dr. Lewis and It had not
been known at first that the two
might meet here. Jt was a par
ticular pleasure for them to
perlcnce their first meeting this
morning and that pleasure was
increased when they discaverod
that they talked the same Chinese
language. They parted, at the
close of the breakfast, with, the
hope that they might renew their
acquaintance one day in tho Chin
ese mission fields.
Miss Mabel Morton was In charge
of the breakfast which was given
by the Ida Belle Lewis circle with
