art exhibit In .that city, w hich had
a financial as well as an Instructive
purpose. Tho club cleared enough
to secure ono good picture for each

all. The two rooms which won
prlxe money will purchase addi
tional pictures for their rooms. The
elub will also havo the pictures
framed for tho rooms. They feel

county Economic conference to be
held lu I Grande. This confer
ence Is generally known as tho big
gest agricultural event of the cal
endar year, and is sponsored by
the Union county chamber of com
merce, having tho cooperation of
farmers and business men, special
ists and laymen, men und women.
Wednesday evening at the cull of
Dr. W. T. Phy. chairmun of the
agricultural committee of the
county chamber, members of that
official group, together with the
chairmen of tho commodity com
mittees gathered ut Hot Luke and
discussed preliminary lans fur tho
approaching event, all with the
purpose and Idea of making the
conference this year, bigger und
better and of more' practical bene
fit, ir that be possible. Members
of tho committee wore all exceed
ingly enthusiastic, and It wa-i
agreed by those present that so fur
as that meeting was concerned,
the conference has a good start
