dent previously in his private affairs, the venture might

country are going broke, we assume, and Mr. Duffy's might

doesn't, that if he is alone with that accusing radio set in the

has gone to U-d, he leans back in a comfortable chair, with
his feet on a stool and a smoke in his mouth, and lets that
u'ooming band play without any qualms. His conscience
Jocsn't bother him, at least not much, except in company.
It's much the same with flag ceremonies. A person can
:e quite as patriotic all by himself as in a crowd, but some
:ow he feels obliged to act differently in the crowd. There
re two kinds of conscience, the solitary conscience and the
ccial conscience.
Possibly this great problem can't be solved satisfactorily,
