in the front of the neck. -This
gland--is beyond doubt -intimately M
concerned with the physical expres
sion of the emotion of- fear. Pro
truding eye-balls, iremblhig limbs,
and rapid heart, three of the ear-,
dinal symptoms djf this disease,!
are typical symptoms of extreme
fright, so that ft seems safe to
state that this emotion produces
its characteristic physical signs by
producing overaeiion of the thy
roid, particularly since it is com
mon experience that persons with
diminished thyroids are dull and
lack emotion. For these reasons
it is natural that a parson living Jn
terror might so plainly show' pro
truding eyes, trembling limbs, and
rapid heart as tot he mistaken for
one with overact bin of the thyroid.
Fortunately there Is a very ac
curate and easy chemical test
which will separate the true ease
of thyroid disease from that which
shows some of its symptoms as a
result of continuous anxiety over
personal difficulties. This test Is
culled the Biisnl Metaholic Bate. It
