The public, which is supposed to make the laws and pro
vide the loopholes by which criminals may escape justice,
generally considers insanity the last resort in a murder
case, and has a very vague opinion on specific insanity and
the individual's 'lack of responsibility when insane.
Most of us agree with many eminent criminologists when
they say that any murderer is suffering from insanity at
the time of the crime. But should that fact, or a jury's in
teiprctation of it, determine what should be done -with the
; murderer?
