'i Union Post had one of the smartest looking parade en
tries and a most original one. The ponies drawing the float
and the beautiful horse in the lead were highly complimented
.throiiKliout the line of march. Union is to be congratulated.
Pendleton provided the most elaborate section of the pa
rade and is deserving of special commendation. It was a'
neighborly thing to do and I. a Grande legionnaires arc most
appreciative of the interest shown and the help given by the
Pendleton gang.

La (Irande was cliicl'ly concerned with the housing and en
tertainment of vi.'.itois. That the community did itself proud
was evidenced liy the j:renl mimlier of unsolicited comments
of praise at the close of the affair Saturday nigh'.. Every
one was anxious to express approval and appreciation for
the hospitality of La ( Irande. We believe and hope that it
was merited because it. means much to a city to have such
a convention entertained successfully.
Ilundniils of ciliwns winked to make the convention
what it was from a hospitality and entertainment stand
point. Pusiness men cooperated almost without exception in
every way possible. The ie:d work, however, and the long
hours of planning', was done by the members of the local
American Legion post and tin' Auxiliary. They deserve a
great deal of credit--more than they will probably receive
and they can well feel gratified at the result of their efforts.
Judge r.rady, Fred Kiddle, K iy Williams, and tho entire group
of committee chairmen were directly responsible. The Aux
iliary officials, headed by .Mis. rainier, were eipially effective
in their work. No one knows, except those, just how strenu
ous a job the staging of the convention actually was. They
have consolation in knowing that the job was well done.
Not only the organization members themselves but all
visitors to the city seemed to have a good time and to enjoy
the three-day entertainment. Theie were a few incidents
that were probably objectionable some people but they
were no more numeiom. than could be expected from any
crowd of similar size an.wOicie. Taken all in all, it is sur
prising that so many th.nr-nnds of people congregated for
such a celebration established .,uch a record of good conduct.
Iiji (Irande people should have no regiels, should be thor
oughly pleased. It was a most successful convention and one
whose features cannot be easily excelled in years to come.
