as long as, they get there quick. And a lot of others don't
Rcem to be going anywhere.
A New York thug, using a turnip in a burlap bag for

can't get blood money out of a turnip.
The bridesmaids at Ailsa Mellon's wedding wore cos

twelve inches above behind." Doesn't that bring up a train
of thought?
, This country must be pretty dry, as well as romantic,
whon young men in Henderson, Minn., will dig down .10
feet into the ground to find a few barrels of beer-said to
have been stored there 60 years ago.
'! TRIAL SEPARATION
' Now appears the "trial separation." A couple promi
nent in eastern society recently treated themselves to one
of these experiments. Says the wife: 'I will not deny that
all Was not well with our household. I believe it is im
possible for any couple to go through life without occasional
clouds, but it certainly seems hasty to rush to the divorce
courts without a previous trial separation."
In their case, the husband went to California and the
wife to Paris. Now both are reported happily returning
to re-open their summer home and spend a delightful sea
son together. If this sort of thing keeps on, divorces will
go out of fashion in America. In time, perhaps, couples
suffering from those occasional clouds may even lenrn to
dispel them, or to get along in spite of them, as a matter
of mutual and self-respect and common sense,
EYES ON THE STOCK SHOW.
With half a million dollars' worth of stock on exhibition,
10,000 people in attendance Thursday and as fair and invit
ing skies as ever previously blessed the staging of the
Union Livestock show, the association members responsible
for the enterprise may stand solidly on both heels and pull
out their suspenders with their thumbs in justifiable pride
over their 1926 endeavors. They have sung well the wealth,
the progressiveness, the enterprise of the city of Union, of
Union county, of Eastern Oregon yea, of the Northwest.
The 1926 show has been the greatest show of all.
And with apologies for here appearing to clamor for a
piece of glory-cake, The Observer through its full leased
Associated Press telegraph wire has daily kept the show
before every reading eye in the West, and everywhere, in
fact, that folk are interested in fine stock. Moreover, the
stock show editorials have been reprinted in the Portland
and Seattle papers, as well as in newspapers in smaller
towns. This is indicative of extensive interest in the out
come in results to this section on the part of the North
west's newspapers.
