jt , ANOTHER COMMENCEMENT
The high school commencement season approaches. Par
' ents are busy right now buying dark blue suits with an
extra pair of "ice cream pants" for sons and pretty white
. dresses for daughteis. The anguish of examination days
.will soon bo followed by the thrills of nil the social func
ytions that go with graduation for the 83 boys nnd girls
- comprising the La Grande class.
Orations are being polished and speakers trained. School
officials are lining up the usual array of wise words and
'good advice to! give the eager boys and girls, who listen
fwith. amafcing patience and seriousness to these elder speak
?crs, even taking to heart far more than they are given
; credit for. Lastly will come the diplomas and the fare
' wells and then another beginning of a new phase of life',
v Although they, are much laughed at, these throngs of

'impressive. So much hope centers in them their own,
.their parents', their country's, humanity's hope. If they
have faults it is as much the elders' responsibility ns theirs, i
J!ut the faults are mostly overshadowed by youth nnd com
. age and energy and ideals.
