It's Great to Own

"That's the new Jcvett Coach I " You hear it wher
ever you go. Admiration greets this great car on
every hand. Because of its beauty of line and color.
Because of its advanced features of design. Because
its every detail bespeaks genuine quality.
Beyond the striking beauty of Jcwett Coach
beyond its championship performance greater even
than its advanced engineering is the following fact:
Consider It Well!
Paige has put the experience of fifteen years of build
ing into the Coach sacrificing nothing to achieve
low price improving the quality for which Jewett
cars are justly respected. This fact alone more than
justifies the enthusiasm that has greeted Jewett
Coach nationally I '

Oil Production
Is Increased
The olt Industry of the country.
appears to be undergoing another!
of those transitions which make it.
unique umung Industrns. At the
moment of writing, the production
of crude oil is on the upward tr-'iid
due to discovery and development
of new fields of oil principally !
Siiiiickuver, In Arkansas, which Is
yielding some 400,000 barrels of
crude oil dally. Inglewood and
itosccrans, new fields in southern,
California, are adding some 70.000
barrels daily to tho nation's grow
ing total.
Ordinarily a growth In produc
tion of this magnitude could not be
looked upon without considerable
concern as to its eftrr.t upon the
oil markets of the country, includ
ing the market for that primary
product gasoline.
Hut it happens t hat this new
production consists mostly of u
heavy oil, with snmll gasoline con
tent. So marked Is the prcpon
d. ranee of heavy oil In the current
supply that it Is no longer possible
intelligently to consider the oil
situation in terms of total produc
tion of crude oil alone. The gross
volume of oil must be divided in
to two parts light,, with its large
gasoline content, and heavy, with
its small gasoline yield.
The figures on what has happen
ed are Interesting. For the week
ending May floth the crude-oil pro
duction of the t'nited States reach
ed a record ot 2.34(1,900 barrels
dally. This represent a tfuin of
381,600 barrels dally average over
the first of the year. The gain has
been in heavy oil. In fad, the
stntistlcs show an actual decrease
of 12.0U barrels dally In the pro
duction or light oil from the wek
ending January 3rd to the week
ending May 30lh. In other words,
light-oil production throughout I he
country shows a small loss - and
heavy oil u great gain. A similar
com) it lou Is shown in California,
Light-crude production has been
falling since March, heuvy-crude
production has been lucnvislng.
Were the situation reversed with
the supply ow light liigh-gasoline
content oil predominating, there
would 1)4- u great increase In the
supply of gasoline. Hut this Is not
the case, as Is shown by a very
interesting report just issued by
the United States Hureau of Mines,
This shows that during the month
ot April, In the face of lucreatiug
crude-oil production, slocks of
gasoline decreased 1.1S7.U00 bar
rels. A decline tl tiring April is
most unusual. The customary per
formance is for stocks to Increase
until May or June, when tncreused
consumption causes drafts on
stocks. This is the first April uin-
ce 1 1' 1 8 showing a decline. It is
also the first month of April which
has ever failed to show an Increase
In storage over the same mouth m(
the previous yir.
The answer is not far to seek.
April's consumption of gasiline set
a new high record.
The mouths of August Is usually
the mouth of greatest use of gaso
line. 1 Hiring April consumpt ion
was 7000 barrels dully in excess
of August last year. It was also
thirly-four per cent yrealer than
April.
So, the curious condition exists
thut while crude-oil production as
a whole Is breaking records, the
supply of gasoline is actually not
up to the growing demand. Con
sumption for thn year seems like
ly to be the greatest in the his
tory of the country, with conse
quent further drafts on Inven
tories. The Standard Oil Jiulle-tin.
test and that the lights must be
focused In such a way (hut at a
distance of -5 feet the light beams
are not over 3- inches from tho
ground.
At the present tlum the local
stations are awaiting the action of
the secretary of state who In turn
is wulling for a report from tho
t'nited Htutes hureau of standards
where lights, tenses, reflectors and
other equipment is being tented.

yjNY one of the more than
X 200,000 owners will tell you
that buying a Willys-Knight isn't
merely making a car purchase . . .
He will tell you it is the best
investment you could make in
present and perpetual car-satis-faction.
From the first mile smooth,
running, quiet, powerful. Better
on every count at 10,000. Still
smoother, more silent, more and
more powerful at 25,000. And
at 50,000 your Willys-Knight is
a quieter and more efficient car
than the day you bought it.
To this exceptional engtn eflFI

advantage absolute lack of vi

Balancer. The Willys-Knight is
the only automobile in the
United States equipped with this
device ...
No valves to grind. No carbon

that has ever warn out has yet to
