Timber will be brought over that

Four miles of rail have olrady

I.omr Operation
j Present indications ure that the
(company will have at least four
J years operation on Five Points
jond vicinity. It will take from 40
to 45 million feet to run the mill
I for a year. The cut per day will
be 1 50.000 feet.
Company officials plan to utlt
I Ize every portion of the, log and
will turn out quality stuff In pre.
I ferenco to quantity. The Stange
I interests in Wisconsin, where they
have long operated several mills,
have enjoyed i reputation of fur
'nlshlng lumber of excellent quality
!for the markets and the plant here
.will adhere to the same high stan
dard. To them ihe plont hero
means a change in location of op
erations, due lo the gradual dimin
ishing of supply in the Central
West.
The company in Wisconsin has
been interested in sash and door
and finish stuff production during
its operations there and ul one
time Is suid to have, had 4oa men
employed in that department.
Company officials stale that en
ough timber Is available to assure
the mill of approximately fin years
opc-ratlon. The timber owned In
fee simple will supply the mill for
lb years and the government re
serve resources will add another
quarter century.
Ail in all, the plant, although
undoubtedly It will present a far
liner appearance when completed,
has already begun lo assume shape
that promises much for La Grande
und vicinity. Home bleu of the im
mensity of the pkitlt ceil be gainetl
