EVE HATH NOT KEEN, nor ear heard, neither huvu entered
Into the heart of man, the thiltw whi':h God huth prepared lor
them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2,11.
The difficulty that prevents most of us from being
good talkers is that we are equipped with inadequate term
inal facilities.
. Last June it was too much hot weather and too littlo
rain. Now it looks as if the weather man were determined
io reach the other extreme.
, President Coolidge's refusal to appear in the motion
picture screened recently at the Naval Academy was a
most sensible stand, Why should he be ambitious to be
come a movie actor he has a job.
School districts around Imbler will vote next week on
the question of forming; a union high school district and
thus seek to solve the problem of better education in their
home community. With the new Oregon law now in force
governing charges that may be made for students not hav
ing high schools, there will probably be very little oppo
sition to the project for the Imbler territory. With the
facilities they now have, the people of that community ca.i
provide high school education for their children probably
at loVer cost than "to" permit them to go to'schools ino'ther
districts. And certainly a home high school would be
vastly more satisfactory. A three mill tax is small cost,
indeed, for the benefits that will be had if the school i.s
established.

THK STOCK SHOW.
I Willi today's program Union's very creditable stock
L-how. will close its Rates for another year, having given
'new emphasis to the fact that it i.s probably the most val
uable event of the year for Union county. Of course stock
Jmen are enthusiastic about the show. They love good stock.
iThcy know the importance of good stock in the agricul
tural life of the valley. No one knows better than they
do how important it is to thus stimulate interest in fin;
'stock and better agriculture.
The people living in the towns and cities of the county
should have an equal appreciation of the show and what
it seeks to do in addition to giving a pleasant three-d:iy
entertainment each spring. Agricultural interests are,- or
should be, their interests. Only as the farms and ranches
progress and prosper can the towns do likewise. And only
one view of the boys and girls who are members of th
calf club, only one look at the fine pure-lnvd animals that
paraded at Union, is necessary to convince you as to th--foundation
that has been laid for agricultural improvement.
Our problem as Kn.slcrn Oregon citizens and booster.;
is lo give every possible aid to the forwarding of agricul
ture. We know that the activity of the youngsters, for
example, in their calf club, i.s the finest kind of activity
for them and for Oregon but we should say so. Tiiey
1'ke to be told about it. They like to have interest shown,
to be encouraged in every possible way. And their youth,
their work, and their future deserve it. We should he
devoted to what the Union Stock Show stands for, not oiu
week or one month, but throughout the vears.
