Tho oft-repeated advice that n
flower garden Is a border to frame
a lawn may be disregarded in the
50-fifot lot. In the first place,
there Isn't room enough in the
Jmek-yard garden, whether vege.
table or flower garden, to provide
a lawn worth framing. Hcsides,
the front yard offers sufficient dis
play of lawn as the property is u-
sually laid out.
It Is a very effective plan to
make the entire hack yard a flow
er garden of formal plan with th"
lawn feature restricted to grass
paths from two to three JVt wide
among the beds. Such a flower
garden covering the ( ntire back
yard un-a. of about, fit) square feel
is u very pleasing and handsome
picture and quite as effective as
leslgns which call for a pocket
handkerchief lawn In the center.
