The bead or Wallowa Lake will
soon have a little cily of privately
owned summer homes If the in
crease in building, which started
last summer, keeps up. ,
Itemizing that a great many peo
ple would like io have their own
cottages near the famous resort, a
tract of timbered laud, near the
lake, has been divided into lots
with nil the Improvements of the
city provided.
Instead of the ordinary straight
street, which Is found In most cit
ies, thn "townsite" has winding
thoroughfares, wandering, through
the tall pine trees. Klectrlc lights,
sewer connections, and water piped
from high up in the mountains are
all available for every lot.

Ixist summer several of these
lots weru purchased nnd on some,
cottages have already been erected.
Dozens of others are planning to
build this summer. Thure Is now
loom for nearly U00 buildings on
this plot.
Incidentally, in connection with

enough hard wood maple flooring
to build the largest dunce hull In
the state of Oregon.

ly members of the granges in Ua
ker, Union and Wallowa counties,
attended the Union County Pomona
grange held with the Cricket Flat
grange of fcJIgin. More than 20
subordinate granges were repre
sented. - -
Plans were started for the or
ganization of a trl-county Pomona
grange and Dr. W. T. Phy of Hot
lake, was appointed temporary
master to work with the master of
the threu county granges to per
fect the organissation. The next
meeting of the county grange will
be held, with the Union grange at
the experiment station there and
It Is expected that the trl-county
organization win ue perieeieu at
that time.
