their 'positions yesterday at the
court house and wre hard at work
this morning at un early hour
when the "inquiring reporter" from
the "Evening Observer" paid them
a non-official visit.
On shaking hands with Jess
Preshears, new county sheriff, ono
feels Instinctively that tho office Is
literally In "good hands." The
new sheriff radiates that quiet
power of tho sort which Is always
attributed to the "he men" who
grew up in the "great opon spaces."

new sheriff has spent most of his
life In Elgin where he served for
a long time as town marshal and
later as special deputy.
