The gain was held during the sec
ond week of this mouth, when
orders accepted by mills reporting
to seven manufacturers' associa
tions In all parts iof the country
amounted to H'i per cent of the
production for the same week.

cent of output. Western pines,
however, did not register a gain.
The lumber market Is consider
ably firmer than a fortnight ago,

littlo lumber will be added to pres
ent stocks. Northern manufac

and state that a short age, ( of hard
wood lumber next fall and winter,
followed by . higher prices, would
not be a surprising development.
